Privacy Policy

VerdantLog ("we", "us") operates the VerdantLog website (verdantlog.com) and the VerdantLog mobile applications. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.

Location information. To provide local weather alerts and care guidance, you may provide a ZIP code or city name. We convert this to approximate coordinates (city-level latitude/longitude) and store it with your profile. We do not collect precise GPS location from the mobile app. On our public website, you may optionally share your browser's location to preview local weather; this is used for the request only and is not stored.

Garden data. Plants you add, care logs, notes, reminders, and planner entries you create in the app.

Plant photos. If you use the AI diagnosis feature, photos you take or upload are processed to generate a diagnosis. Photos are sent to our AI processing providers for analysis. Camera and photo library access is used only when you initiate it.

Purchase information. If you buy products or subscribe to Premium, payments are processed by Stripe (subscriptions) or Shopify (shop orders). We receive order details and subscription status but never see or store your full card number.

Usage and device information. Standard technical data such as IP address, browser/device type, and pages viewed, used for security, debugging, and improving the service.

How We Use Information

• Provide and personalize the service (care schedules, weather alerts, AI diagnosis)
• Process purchases and manage subscriptions
• Send service communications (e.g. weekly digests, care reminders you enable)
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

Service Providers

We share data only with providers necessary to run VerdantLog: Supabase (authentication and database hosting), Stripe (subscription payments), Shopify (shop checkout), OpenWeatherMap (weather forecasts — receives your stored coordinates), and AI model providers (plant photo analysis). Some product links on our site are Amazon affiliate links; if you click one, Amazon's own privacy policy applies on their site.

Notifications

Care reminders on mobile use your device's local notification system. Scheduling happens on your device; enabling or disabling them is controlled in your device settings.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app under Settings → Delete account; deletion runs immediately, cancels any active subscription, and frees your email for future signup. You may also request deletion by emailing privacy@verdantlog.com, and we will complete it within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. purchase records).

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us at privacy@verdantlog.com to exercise these rights.

Children

VerdantLog is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date.
